I LIKE TRAINS The Shallows music review by Puppies On Acid
Brilliant British Post-Rock band. I don't have a whole lot of listening experience with this type of post-rock. I'm not really sure where to start in describing their sound.....maybe if Interpol was more progressive and had a more dark and depressing overtone like mid era Anathema? Sure that sounds good to me. The lyrics and vocal style is very dark and moody. At times the vocalist even sounds like Vincent Cavanagh of Anathema. Its definitely progressive, but pretty minimalist prog with very spacey, sometimes psychedelic, soundscapes. It's depressing yet beautiful. At times it feels like there is a glimpse of happiness in the music, a silver lining in the dark gloom, so to speak. Just enough to give it that hopefulness, letting you know everything will be alright. It's an intriguing combination of sounds, emotions, and feelings. One of my favorite new (to me) bands I have found this year.
